What can I say? I was born and raised a gamer. I started on an Atari 2600 and a Colecovision when I was a toddler. Games weren't so prolific back then; parents saw them as a luxury or a toy at best, or a nuisance in most cases. I had to mow lawns and work my eight year old butt off doing chores to pay for my first NES. I'd wake up every morning at 5am so I could play The Legend Of Zelda before I had to go to elementary school.

And now here I am, pushing 30 and still an avid gamer. I love video games. But in my lifetime, I've gotten a little jaded. A little cranky. It's like the bigger games get, the harder I am to impress. I feel like I've seen it all. I feel like a lot of games are rehashing the same shit over and over again. On the other hand, I feel like the games that ARE doing something original, something new, often get overlooked by the players.

So, like every other douchebag on the internet, I feel MY voice should be heard in the cacophony that is the blogosphere (and yes, I admit to feeling like a HUGE douchebag using the word "blogosphere", and you should too). I'm not here to keep you abreast of the latest gaming news; you have Gamespot, Kotaku, and other gaming news sites for that. Here I am just going to give opinions, impressions, reviews, reminiscences, etc. I do have a job that is in the industry, whose name I cannot list (I'll tell you now, it's a retailer, not a studio or anything...don't get your hopes up).

As far as my gaming "resume"...I currently own and actively use a PS2, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS. I don't have a PS3 yet due to the fact that mommy and daddy don't buy my gaming systems...I'm an adult with rent and bills, and I can't afford a spare $500 right now. If anyone likes my blog and wants to contribute or donate towards buying me one, I'm all for it, but I'm not exactly getting my hopes up on that one. I have throughout my life owned the aforementioned Atari and NES, as well as a Sega Master System, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Turbografx 16, N64, Dreamcast, Playstation, XBox, and a Gamecube. I'm also an avid emulator user, particularly of old Arcade games. And OF COURSE I obtain all emulators and ROMs legally. ::cough::

For the record...I hate anime. Anything anime based, I'm probably not going to like. Same goes for most (not all, but definitely most) JRPGs. If you're some little otaku fanboy, we probably will not see eye to eye. I will not willingly or wittingly play any games based on an anime (no Naruto, no DBZ, etc). Maybe someday I will defend this position, but for now just accept that at face value.

And also, I really don't play online much. Therefore if I say I don't like a game, and someone protests with "But the online multiplayer is awesome!", it's falling on deaf ears. Online play, to me, is a fringe benefit, not the game itself. To me, it's like saying "Man, this car is a piece of shit" and you saying "Yeah man, but the stereo system is AWESOME!". No matter how great online multiplayer is for a game, if the single player campaign is not good enough to stand on its own, I will not like the game. I'm looking at you, Halo.

My Wii Friend Code is 3509-5701-6177-4332, but let's be honest here, Nintendo has made it retardedly difficult to add friends on the Wii. Besides, the only Wii game I have that could be played online is Super Smash Bros Brawl, and that got old after three weeks.
